Waterbury Man Killed in Early Morning Hit-and-Run Crash Involving Moped

Waterbury- A 27-year-old Waterbury man has died following an early morning hit-and-run crash involving a moped on Saturday, July 25.

According to the Waterbury Police Department, officers responded at approximately 2:07 a.m. to the intersection of Meriden Road and Southmayd Road after receiving reports of a serious crash involving a moped.

When officers arrived, they found a moped lying in the roadway. No other vehicles were found at the scene.

Police identified the moped operator as 27-year-old Luis Santana of Waterbury, who was located suffering from severe injuries. Santana was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Waterbury Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU).
