Waterbury- Sister Patricia Jamele, C.N.D., a longtime educator and community leader, has been named Waterbury’s 2026 Italian Mayor for the Day.
Born in Waterbury, Sister Pat attended Barnard Grade School before graduating from Waterbury Catholic High School. She later entered the Congregation of Notre Dame in Bourbonnais, Illinois, beginning a religious vocation that would shape her lifelong commitment to education and service.
She returned to Waterbury to teach English at Waterbury Catholic High School and later taught at Holy Cross High School. Over time, she moved into school guidance, where she continued supporting students as they navigated their educational paths.
Retirement has not brought an end to her involvement in education. Sister Pat continues to lead support groups at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School and serves on several school boards and foundations.
Her selection as Italian Mayor for the Day recognizes a Waterbury native whose years of teaching, guidance and continued service have kept her connected to the city’s educational community.
