WATERBURY — For more than a month, rumors have circulated throughout Waterbury about what led to the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Daniel Peart on Easton Avenue.

Three Arrested in Easton Ave Homicide of 20 Year Old Hartford Man in Waterbury

According to reporting by CT Insider, an arrest warrant released this week alleges the May 6 homicide stemmed from a planned confrontation that escalated into deadly violence. The warrant provides the clearest account yet of the events leading up to Peart’s death.

According to the warrant, investigators believe Peart traveled to Easton Avenue during the early morning hours to participate in a fight involving Waterbury resident Tyquise Kinnel. What may have begun as a one-on-one dispute allegedly evolved into a larger confrontation involving multiple individuals.

The details contained in the warrant largely align with information that had circulated throughout the community in the weeks following the shooting, though police had previously released few specifics regarding the circumstances that led to the homicide.

CT Insider reported that investigators reviewed surveillance footage, witness statements, and other evidence while building the case. According to the warrant, authorities allege that 17-year-old Saron McKenna ultimately fired the shot that killed Peart.

McKenna, who is being prosecuted as an adult, has been charged with murder and multiple firearm-related offenses. He is being held on a $3 million bond.

The homicide investigation has also resulted in charges against Tyquise Kinnel, 18, and Lucas Henry, 19. Both face assault-related charges connected to the incident.
