Waterbury Public Schools Announces 2026–2027 School Year Calendar

1st Half 2026

Waterbury- Waterbury Public Schools has released its 2026–2027 school year calendar, giving families a look ahead at the first day of school, holidays, professional development days, early dismissals, and scheduled breaks.

The new school year will officially begin on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. The district calendar includes 181 school daysfor students, with the final day of school scheduled for Thursday, June 10, 2027, which will be an early dismissal day, unless changes are required due to weather-related cancellations.

Summer Meals Continue Across Waterbury as School Break Reaches Second Half

Before students return, Waterbury Public Schools will host several summer programs, professional learning opportunities, and staff preparation days.

  • July 6–31: Summer school programs continue for eligible students
  • Programs include elementary extended school year services, special education extended school year programs, high school credit recovery, and middle school summer programs.

August 2026

  • August 20: Professional Development Day
  • August 21: Professional Development Day

End of School Year

The last day of school is scheduled for June 10, 2027, and will be an early dismissal day. The district notes that the final date may be adjusted depending on weather-related school cancellations.

The Waterbury Board of Education approved the 2026–2027 school year calendar on December 18, 2025.

Families are encouraged to review the calendar throughout the year for scheduled early dismissals, professional development days, and school closures.
