Waterbury, Conn. — A Waterbury woman has been charged with murder following the death of an unidentified man inside a Cherry Avenue apartment on Monday morning.

According to the Waterbury Police Department, patrol officers responded to 13 Cherry Ave. at approximately 8:22 a.m. on Sept. 21, 2026, after receiving a report of an unresponsive male inside an apartment.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male lying on the floor. Police said the man was unresponsive, not breathing, and had sustained several serious injuries. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.

Investigators also reported observing clear signs of a struggle inside the apartment.

During the investigation, detectives identified 39-year-old Guadalupe Ojeda of Waterbury as the primary suspect. Police said Ojeda was found with minor visible injuries to her face and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Following her discharge, Ojeda was taken into custody at Waterbury Police Headquarters after investigators secured an arrest warrant.

Ojeda has been charged with Murder and appeared in court on the morning of Sept. 22, 2026, where she was held on a $2 million bond.

Police have not released the identity of the victim pending further notification.
