WATERBURY — A shooting investigation is reportedly underway in the area of Locust Street after multiple reports of gunfire and possible injuries circulated on social media Sunday morning.

According to unconfirmed social media reports, residents reported hearing multiple gunshots around 5:30 a.m. and a vehicle leaving the area shortly afterward.

Other reports circulating online indicate a possible gunshot victim was located inside a basement apartment and that a local hospital notified authorities regarding a walk-in patient reporting a gunshot injury.

Additional social media reports claim police stopped a vehicle with multiple occupants and that one person had visible injuries. These details have not been confirmed by the Waterbury Police Department.
